Early Electrics LLC introduces this striking new lamp inspired by the Dutch art movement “De Stijl” (The Style) founded in 1917. Artist Piet Mondrian and architect Gerrit Rietvelt were notable members. Our pendent chandelier is not a copy of an old idea… it’s a fresh take on this early modernest movement. Eren Berg Studios has reduced the essentials of design down to strong horizontal and vertical lines, a stark black and white pallet and simple geometry to create something new. The lamp features an 8 bulb wheel using early style European sockets. The Edison filament bulbs are sandwiched by dual 16 inch diameter clear glass plates. The glass is a perfect frame for the bulbs, it also reflects them. This is the the bare bulb esthetic at its best… pure and simple. $1200
Eren Berg Studios introduces it’s newest creation using real 1890′s “Luxfer” prism glass. Luxfer glass is very collectable and best known for their association with Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed and held 41 prism glass patents. Our new design is a nod to this celebrated architect. This special glass was the product of a gas lamp age. The electric lamp was not yet in use so any additional light that could be brought into a building was a great benefit. These original panels were salvaged from the front transoms of Turn-Of-The-Century buildings. There they were used to refract light hitting the building and carry it deep into the interior. Each lamp uses an 4″ square glass lens in the simplest and most elegant way. No need to over design when the glass is so special. It took some time but we were able to assemble a matching collection of clear Luxfor Diamond Quilt pattern lenses. Not only are these lamps beautiful… they are priced right at $175 each – There are 12 in stock
Pictured above are our new large and heavy pendent style chandeliers. It was a stroke of luck when we found a signed collection of old warehoused 1930’s “Holophane” glass plates. We knew these would make an amazing new lamp and designed a heavy blackened brass and steel frame just for them. These substantial 15″x 17″ prismatic glass plates are .375″ thick and cast a beautiful glow. The finished lamp is lit buy 4 floating horizontal tubular bulbs using porcelain sockets. The look is a bit Deco, Modern and Industrial. There’s nothing like this out there… $650 each
We are now manufacturing these Frank Lloyd Wright inspired lamps using antique Luxfer glass. Each lamp has four 5″x 5″ original 1890’s “Luxfer” prism glass panels. Luxfer glass is very collectable and best known for their association with Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed and held 41 prism glass patents. This special glass was the product of the “Gas Lamp Age”. The electric lamp was not yet in use so any additional light that could be brought into a building was a great benefit. These original panels were salvaged from the front transoms of Turn-Of-The-Century buildings. There they were used to refract light hitting the building and carry it deep into the interior. The use of manganese in the original manufacturing process, combined with over a 100 years of sun light are responsible for turning the glass from clear to this beautiful purple/lavender. This lamp measures 8.25″ x 10.5″ at it’s widest point and is 4″ tall. All are heavy for their small size and use 1/4″ thick steel panels that hold the glass. It’s Illuminated with 2 round bulbs in double porcelain sockets. $475 each
Inspired by early vented industrial shades… Eren Berg Studios introduces it’s retro yet futuristic new look in steel, brass and porcelain. This sconce measures 8″ wide and 11″ deep. The softly curving shade has industrial cutouts that cast subtle patterns of light and shield the twin tubular bulbs. Early factory building trusses were also an influence in this lamp’s unique framework. As always special care was taken with the aged patina. This is a versatile design that works equally as a sconce, pendent, torchiere or table lamp. …$450 per sconce or pendent. We have 12 lamps in stock.
Eren Berg Studios introduces it’s newest creation. This is a beautiful mini chandelier. The diameter is a compact 7″ and it’s 12″ from top ring to bottom. The curve of the cast iron hub and exposed wire loops give this lamp a soft elegant feel. It’s a nice contrast to the simple straight lines of the hanging tubular cages. The overall look has a bit of a gothic feel and at the same time it’s industrial. The patina is black with hints of rust. It takes 3 common and easy to replace tubular bulbs. The small size offers many different design options. Hung from a wall hook it makes an interesting sconce. Group a number of these lamps to make a larger complex chandelier. As usual we’re keeping the number of lamps for this series very limited. There are only 12 examples in stock and you’ll only find them here…. $750 each
For 30 years I’ve owned and restored all types of antique automobiles. So it was natural to look for inspiration there. Brass-Era cars were from the teens and had large highly graphic lantern like headlights. Pictured above is our newest design. It uses an 8″ round prismatic glass lens in the simplest and most elegant way. No need to over design when the glass is so special. It took some time but we were able to assemble a collection of matching lenses. I’m told that these were used in the Ford Model “T” headlights. The good news is the price! $325 each.
Eren Berg Studios gives a new meaning to the term “hand-made”. We introduced our latest custom Four Hand Chandelier at the New York Pier Show. It took some by surprise and may have been the most photographed object there. One review claims “This lighting is perfectly suited for a Tim Burton film”. We’re proud of the new lamp but didn’t stop there. We are also very excited about our new collection of industrial furniture. The table pictured above was crafted using part of a amazing 125 year old air tank. The finish shows a patina that can not be duplicated. These are one-of-a-kind creations using the same care, design sense and attention to detail you’ll find in all our custom work. Both of these items can be found in our 1stdibs and VandM stores.
Industrial Cage lamps have become the hottest design trend. Eren Berg Studios has taken this style to a new level. We are introducing our latest table top lamp design. This elongated cage and turned wood handle is 13.5″ tall and sits in front of a striking long oval nickel plated reflector. The decorative scientific laboratory base and supporting hardware are blackened cast iron. There is an adjustment that allows the lamp to be raised and lowered up and down. These lamps can also be ordered as wall sconces…. $350 each
This eye catching long cage 5 light lamp is 17″ wide and 15″ deep. What makes this lamp most interesting is the curved upper X frame… that frame is a steering wheel center hub of a 1910-1915 Ford Model T. Also of interest are the five 12″ long cages. The cages surround and feature 12″ tubular bulbs. These bulbs are still made and can easily be replaced. The extra long bulbs have a single wavy filament that give the appearance of a lightning strike… it’s an important part of this chandeliers look. Total height of the fixture including upper hanging rod and loop is 24″. We have only one of these… sold
