The bronze plate and neck are cast in one piece and hold a thick porcelain socket. This all sits on a square extended tube from a ceiling plate. These fixtures were the first step in electric lighting. Gas lamps were considered old fashioned so proudly showing the light bulb was fashionable and cutting edge for it’s time.
